Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year was spent as usual with our close family and it was a lot of fun, but what I want to write about here is a Mother's Day "event" that my youngest son's teacher put on for all of the mothers in the class. We had to RSVP for the event and every mother attended. It was in the classroom, on the Friday before Mother's Day, for about 2 hours. The event was about spending some fun, quality time one on one. She had four stations set up, which we rotated to about every 15 minutes. We had block time, computer time, a station where we cut out and glued a very cute yellow flower together, and then a cooking station where we cut up and used apples, bananas, strawberries, grapes and mandarin oranges to create a "flower" on our plate before eating it together. (That was my favorite station). Then after all of that we got to enjoy cookies and a little performance put on by the kids in which they read sentences they had written about us, and poems that they learned about mothers. It was just so special, and so much fun! One of Brenden's sentences about me was that I clean his room! :)

Yes, the front of the book there says "I love you Mom," and he drew a picture of me. :) (my heart is melting again!...)

Cherry On Top

First let me say, I forgot to rotate that pic before I added it and now I can't figure out how to rotate it or delete it! Oh well.
My littlest baby boy collected FIVE happy notes at school. He actually received FIVE IN A ROW!! I promised him that I would take him to do something fun when he got to five. Some background: Brenden is rambuctious. He likes to climb. His mind and body are always on the move. On the third day of school this year I received a typed note from his teacher that told me about Brenden's not so good behavior. So, I made him a necklace (the boy loves jewlery hehe) made of yarn with laminated rules attached to it like "Respect Everyone" and "Make Smart Choices." We talk about the rules almost daily and he has been putting forth a lot of extra effort to get those happy notes. So....tonight I took him and Ethan to Cherry On Top which is a frozen yogurt shop with lots of choices and lots of toppings...all self serve. It was a lot of fun!!! As a side note, I already have many different concoctions made up in my mind...Peanut Butter yogurt with bananas and brownies, Cheescake yogurt with all kinds of fruit, and then there will have to be one trip where I just put tons of cereal on my frozen yogurt. :)
